This research explores the development of entrepreneurial drive during the university experience. The research validates the entrepreneurial drive measurement instrument in a European context and tests whether entrepreneurial drive increases in business students, during their study experience. The research found that entrepreneurial drive increased in each successive year and the achievement motivation, proactive disposition, and self-efficacy dimensions of entrepreneurial drive all increased during the university experience. It was found that gender did not impact the development of entrepreneurial drive.
Why is it Important?
The development of enterprising and entrepreneurial students and graduates is important to support their ability to secure employment and also supports venture creation and development. This research helped to understand how students’ entrepreneurial drive and the individual components of entrepreneurial drive developed during the university experience.
